One of the best ways to meet ladyboys in Bangkok, is to visit some of the many ladyboy bars. Bangkok is notorious for its raunchy red light districts, home to hundreds of bars, gogos, and hostess clubs, many of which are staffed by ladyboys.

While escort agencies and dating sites are great for getting a hot ladyboy to your hotel room, visiting a ladyboy bar you’ll get the chance to sit back with a drink and witness Bangkok’s ladyboys in the flesh, chatting and flirting before deciding just how far you want to go.
While the name is a cheeky giveaway, many have been fooled by the hot and feminine ladyboys that shake their stuff on the poles of Cockatoo A Gogo. A fairly new gogo bar, Cockatoo can be found on the neon lit Soi Cowboy.
Some less open minded folk may not feel totally comfortable entering this ladyboy gogo bar surrounded by a host of busy girl gogos, but that really is their loss. Inside you’ll find a rather narrow gogo bar, where you’ll be sat seductively close to a stage brimming with curvy, bikini clad ladyboys, who could be described as anything but shy! There are around 30 ladyboys on staff every night and the quality is high. It really doesn’t get much more intimate than this.
King’s Corner
King’s Corner can be found in Patpong, Bangkok’s oldest gogo area, though unlike most of the other ladyboy bars in Bangkok, this one is best known for having lots of post-op ladyboys (i.e. ladyboys with manmade pussies).
It’s very much a large and lively gogo and there are several real girls thrown in to the mix. In fact many of the ladyboys here will claim to be genetic girls, which can leave you playing a bit of a guessing game, but if you prefer your ladyboys to be dickless then this is the place to go.
Guess Bar
An alternative to Bangkok’s wild and often manic ladyboy gogo bars, Guess Bar is better described as a ladyboy lounge bar. Here you’ll find a team of around 10 to 15 ladyboys hanging out in their air condition bar, playing pool, and flirting with the customers.
Instead of bikinis, Guess Bar ladyboys are dressed in more casual attire with occasional themed nights where the staff dress more provocatively, in cocktail dresses, cosplay, or lingerie.
Guess Bar can be found on Sukhumvit soi 4, close to the entrance of the Rajah Hotel, and If you’re fan of lounge style ladyboy bars also check out Darkside Bar on Sukhumvit soi 33 and Check Inn Bar off Sukhumvit soi 5.
Cascade Bar
When it comes to sheer volume of ladyboys nowhere in Thailand (or quite possibly the world), can compete with Casacade Bar. Located on the top floor of Bangkok’s buzzing Nana Plaza gogo complex, Cascade Bar has around 80 to 100 ladyboys working on a typical night, ranging from 6 foot Amazonian babes, to small, feminine types.
It really is a huge gogo bar with a massive stage and lots of padded seating (including some dark corners where more intimate flirting tends to take place). Some may feel a little intimidate by the sheer number of ladyboys packed in to this sexy funhouse, but if you can’t find a ladyboy to your liking here then maybe you’re not into ladyboys after all.
Obsession
While Cascades may be the biggest, many experienced ladyboy lovers consider Obsession to be home to the most stunning. Located on the bottom floor of Nana Plaza, Obesssion is still a fair size, with around 50 ladyboys dancing on the revolving stage each night, and whereas Casacdes has a number of tall and athletic ladyboys on staff, your typical Obsession ladyboy looks more like a young, cute, Japanese schoolgirl.
With so many uber hot, feminine ladyboys on staff the only negative is that it tends to attract a lot of wealthy Japanese and Korean tourists, and some of the more popular ladyboys tend to develop a bit of a diva attitude. But don’t let this put you off, Obsession gogo is home to some of the most beautiful ladyboys on this planet, and watching them sliding up and down those shiny poles will leave you drooling in your beer.
Oops, you certainly made a mistake when you got that one back to your hotel bed………definitely not what you expected under the clothes of that gorgeous lady you picked up for a fantasy night of illicit midnight romping. It is just another night where one more western male on his dream golf holiday in Thailand has forgotten that there is a third sex inhabiting the Land of Smiles.
Having lived in Thailand for a while now, I have heard or overheard in cafes, many funny male stories of how they just didn’t know they were with a ladyboy until they got into bed together. Of course being female, and I am a Western female, I actually find it highly amusing and entertaining, much to the guy’s embarrassment. I know for a fact, many guys won’t even admit their faux pas whilst on a golfing holiday to their mates at home, as they are too mortified to revisit what they consider to be a harrowing experience. Apart from the ones that are out for financial gain just as many western prostitutes are, katoeys are shy and private people who don’t flaunt themselves as bar girls, which is the image that most tourists have.
Walk down any street in Patong, Patpong, Pattaya or Bangkok, multitudes of flamboyant exotic creatures of the night in skimpy clothing will flock to a western male in the hope of snaring a white farang for a “short” time, or if they are lucky it will be for a “long” time. This is the “time” of utter confusion for the “straight” lusting males. Is she a he?
In Thailand, a katoey (or kathoey) is the term used to refer to an effeminate gay male or a transgender woman. Khmer in origin, the word katoey means “lady boy”. If you have an eye for detail and are not short sighted, a lady boy is actually quite easy to pick, despite the deceptive outwardly feminine appearance. That is, if you have not had a skin full of alcohol in some dark seedy bar, which quite often is the prerequisite to the “oh my god” scenario. Or maybe women are just better at spotting the difference, as females think with their brains and not another part of our anatomy, which may impair our judgment.
Walk into a Thai department store or anywhere cosmetics are sold, chances are the salesperson will be a katoey, the hairdresser, the fashionista or the waitress wearing a brilliant smile. A katoey is the consummate femme fatale. They certainly know their stuff and how to strut it. It is almost as if a lady boy is more woman than an actual woman; a mythical courtesan, paramour or muse to the male universe. Katoeys display female traits typical of every woman; they chatter amongst their friends, cry and rant, they want to be the best dressed and the most beautiful.
Just remember if the female form beside you has perfectly applied and a serious amount of makeup going on, the perkiest luscious tits, long slim legs that go on forever and is dressed in a provocative manner, chances are the person is a lady boy. Don’t think that you can pick a katoey by a deep husky voice alone, or big feet and hands. Sure there are some katoeys that stick out like a sore thumb due to their ungainly walk, in some cases caused by the block and tackle of appendage tucked up. With some it is a 50/50 chance of maybe, and then there are the lady boys that will defy the odds with their beauty, grace and mannerisms. Just make sure you wear a hat when playing golf in Thailand so that your brain doesn’t get fried.
I could say, jump in and go for it. Some men have decided that it is their partner of choice. As in golf, the shot you take is an individual one. Sexuality is a private and personal choice and at the end of the day, we are all just people in different guises.

Also known as a katoey, the Thai ‘ladyboy’ is a fascinating and sometimes glitzy addition to the eccentricities of Thailand.
Here’s how to tell the difference between a lady and a ladyboy.
Ladyboys or katoey are transgender or transsexual persons who may or may not have undergone male-to-female gender reassignment surgery. With their popular cabaret shows, ladyboys have become an iconic subculture of Thai society, and many are often so gorgeous that it can be difficult for the undiscerning traveller to tell the difference between women and them!
Fair enough, some do give themselves away quickly with mannish behaviour and garish makeup. But there are times when the lusciously curled hair, killer red stilettos, figure-hugging dress, sweet perfume, and amazing poise simply ooze feminine charm, making you wonder if your eyes are playing tricks on you.
Well, not to worry! It’s Fiona to the rescue – here’s a tongue-in-cheek guide to telling when that Thai beauty standing in front of you is in fact a ladyboy, lest you let slip, “Damn, girl!” and end up with an unwanted surprise:

P.C. Air, which will fly to several Asian destinations starting in April, had its first training session this week for 30 recruits, including four from "the third sex."
Four Thai transsexuals -- known within the culture as "ladyboys" -- have been recruited as flight attendants for a start-up charter airline that says it will be Thailand’s first to include transsexuals among its cabin crew.
Thailand is known for its tolerance for transvestites and transsexuals, known locally as "katoeys" or "ladyboys." An annual transsexual beauty pageant is broadcast nationally, and Thai doctors’ well-honed skills at the surgeries needed to switch genders -- not to mention bargain prices -- have made Bangkok a sex-change capital.
But while katoeys are prominent in entertainment, frequently appearing on television series and in cabaret shows, other job opportunities are limited.
"I had applied to many airlines and was repeatedly turned down. They said because I was a transsexual, not a real woman," said Phuntakarn Sringern, 24, from Bangkok. "This is the first time somebody told me to come as I am and put on my best dress."

Company president Peter Chan, 47, who worked as a flight attendant for 10 years, said he doesn’t "see any reasons we cannot let ladyboys work as flight attendants" as long as his carrier complies with civil aviation laws.
"I think it’s time for the Thai society to be more open and support freedom of all sexes," he said.
The airline has separate orientation sessions for male and female recruits, and the transsexuals have been placed with the natural-born women. Chan said the transsexuals must live up to feminine standards.
"For ladyboys, we have to spend more than one day with them to make sure they can keep their feminine personalities. Their voices and their postures must be naturally feminine and they must be very patient," he said.
Becoming a flight attendant has long been the dream of Dissanai Chitpraphachin, 23, a native of Mahasarakam province in Thailand’s rural northeast and a former winner of the Miss Tiffany pageant for transsexuals.
"When I was young, I couldn’t take my eyes off those nicely dressed ladies in the airline commercials every time they came on the screen," Dissanai said. "I simply want everyone to open up their hearts and judge us by our work, not because of our sex."

This venue is definitely not the bad, it's great but you will panic because your not sure of the surrounds!
The Bad - There are several ladyboy bars that are quite course and cheap (don't let them reflect your thinking of all all such places).
